Marina Kim originates from a very mixed ethnic and cultural background.
She was born in Uzbekistan, which at the time was part of the Soviet Union.
A graduate of the prestigious Republican Art College in Uzbekistan, Marina opened her own gallery in Tashkent before moving to London in 2000. In 2001 she held her first major exhibition Beyond the Great Silk Road at the Arndean Gallery in Mayfair.
Marina works in most traditional media, applying herself with equal skill to oils, watercolour, tempera, pencil, or ink. She also uses various engraving techniques.
The emphasis of Marina’s work is on portraiture. This genre allows her to apply her skills, as well as her deep interest in human experience to produce spectacularly beautiful and spiritually enriched portraits which will no doubt stand the test of time.
“Her portraits brought to us a refreshing standard of perception and honesty. She has a gift of capturing personality on canvas as age and time fly on. I would highly recommend to commission Marina to paint your portrait.”
